Have you ever found yourself in front of a leather good, wondering if it was a high-quality product or not?
Were you able to unveil the real meaning of its labels?
Are you among those people who just take into account the words "real leather" ?
Note that there's a lot more behind these two words! Indeed, leather types are not all the same, they don't have the same resistance and quality.
For instance, did you know that "full grain leather" and "top grain leather" are the most durable? These ones are obtained from the upper layers of the hide and are of a higher quality.
- FULL GRAIN LEATHER: is the top quality leather and is the most natural and the less processed. It is thick and can show some marks on the surface. These marks are scars of the animal, that are still present, because the surface of the leather hasn't been sanded.
- TOP GRAIN LEATHER: unlike full grain leather, the upper surface of the hide has been sanded, in order to make it more smooth and even. All the marks should be removed.
Choose with care!
